Medical Programs
Southern Health Partners works to understand the unique needs and preferences associated with each detention center. We then customize a specific program.
All programs provide for on-site nurse staffing and a physician and/or physician provider/extender who visits the facility on a regular basis. Our nurse is on-call to the jail officers at all times for phone consultations, and our physician/physician extenter is on-call to the nurse. We have found that nurses are better able to provide meaningful advice to officers, since they usually know each inmate’s medical condition better than others, and may have treatment regimens already in place for the patient.
We assume single accountability to manage all aspects of the medical operations, including maintaining tight controls. Besides managing all aspects of health care, we order supplies, obtain pharmaceuticals, order medical procedures, manage billing, and pay other providers. We provide officer training as well as healthcare education to inmates.
Tailored Solutions to Meet Your Needs
Most of our contracts are designed to allow for comprehensive services. This means that Southern Health Partners manages the usage and costs of all services— both inside and outside the jail facility.
If the contract terms call for a full-service program, then we also pay for all the components of medical care. Although we have limits on our exposure to high costs, we manage all care throughout the process.
Lastly, our programs limit the associated risks. In addition to using sound, proven protocols, we extend medical professional liability coverage to the county, city, and jail administrators.
